no child left inside

One of the wonderful advantages that I have in working where I do is the fact that I get to see innovations in education all the time! Our elementary school hosts a wonderful outdoor science program! Last week we opened our new "playspot" filled with wonderful outdoor activities that promote students to play OUTSIDE and enjoy the sun, weather and most importantly the exercise. Through the nation there is a campaign titled "No Child Left Inside". Having grown up in Miami, I know how much of a needed motivation this is... Hope you enjoy the photos of opening day!

Learning about Healthy Eating Habits!
Not your usual ribbon cutting ceremony, but still works!
Water barrel system to water the bamboo -- the kids love it!
In loving memory Joyce McKimson - Friend who just passed from cancer in January. This bench is right outside of her 1st grade classroom and is part of the new playspot.
Striker, the fireman's faithful friend. Striker participated in the dog search and rescue in Haiti after the earthquake... loved him.
Petting a baby alligator.... too cute.
Loving the playspot.
